Instead of using firecrackers, residents greet the new year with community merry-making, street dancing, and feasting. The highlight is the "community litsunan," where neighborhoods roast lechons and share food boodle-style. The festival's name comes from "pakalog," a local Tagalog dish of stewed mudfish (dalag).
